Corning Unicam is a leader in the world of manufacturing. Well, over a century ago this corporation got a small start in making light bulb encasements for the famous Thomas Edison. The seeds for this company were planted back in the early 1850s and since then Corning Unicam has never stopped! Nearly a decade later in 1970, the company developed the first fiber optic based cable ensuring the integrity of laser based signals traveling at a great distance. The 1980s saw an advent in LCD based technology which would open up even more doors as seen today.

Through the years Corning Unicam has expanded its horizon by acquiring other companies and strengthening their presence in the market. These companies included Siemens and Siecor whom both have had a great presence in the technological field.

In the world of cable system manufacturing Corning Unicam has done work that is nothing short of amazing. The year 1978 saw the company go leaps and bounds with fiber optic technology ushering in a new era for this burgeoning telecommunications method. The 1980’s saw three monumental achievements by the company first in 1983 they put together the very first single-mode cable for commercial telephone traffic in the USA. Three years later in 1986 they were the first non-Japanese fiber optics manufacturer to sell in that nation and did so with an amazing number of fibers that exceeded 212. The company’s very own patented technology was used to make special connectors for their cabling in 1989. In the 1990’s Corning Unicam has found the means to provide greatly for the networking field through creating protective accessories and technology that ensure that equipment will work at its very best!

Since the beginning of this decade Corning Unicam has not bothered to take a rest. Knowing that the world of technology is ever-changing the company has gone to great lengths to stay in front of the competition.
